About The Artist
Kathie enjoys painting landscapes and florals, and gets much of her inspiration from gardening. She began a garden club 10 years ago and finds that growing and understanding flowers helps in creating paintings that are true to form. She also enjoys painting en plein air, which is French for ‘painting outdoors in the open air’.
For many years, Kathie had a business, Custom Marine Canvas Training Workshops, in which she taught custom design and fabrication of marine canvas. She found it to be a valuable experience to be able to teach others who knew nothing about the trade to be able to create a product that was saleable, and rewarding to see the excitement on their faces throughout the process.
Only after she sold her business did she realize her love and talent for painting. As a result of the experience from running her business, she realized she could carry on her love of teaching through art.
